A dental technician pours and trims a Type IV stone model at the lab bench

A Stribe online course

The Master Model.

From impression to refractory die. The lab work behind every ceramic veneer, with dental technician Mateus Dal Bello.

Inside the course

From impression
to refractory die.

Type IV stone poured into a polyether impression
Margins traced on a scanned dental model in CAD software
Duplication silicone mixed in a measuring cup
Printed dies standing in a duplication ring before the silicone pour
  1. 01

    Pour

Type IV stone, mixed under vacuum and poured in small increments on the vibrator.

  2. 02

    Mark

The cleaned model is scanned, and every margin is traced on the digital model.

  3. 03

    Duplicate

Silicone parts A and B, mixed one to one under vacuum.

  4. 04

    Refractory

Silicone poured over the printed dies. Its mold becomes a refractory die that holds its shape in the oven.

The veneer is only as good as the model.

Every ceramic restoration starts on a model. If the model is off by a fraction, the veneers will not seat, no matter how well they are layered. The Master Model follows one case through the lab, from the impression to the refractory die.

For dentists

See what happens to your impression after it leaves the office, and what the lab needs from you to deliver veneers that seat.

For technicians

A clear, repeatable workflow from stone model to digital model to refractory die.

What you’ll learn

Seven modules.
One real case.

Each module ends with questions answered and a short quiz. The course closes with a final assessment.

Upper and lower polyether impressions in their trays

Module 1

Reading the Impression

Margins, occlusal surfaces and soft tissue. What the impression captures is the ceiling for everything after it.

Stone poured into an impression on the vibrator

Module 2

The First Pour

Type IV stone, an exact water-to-powder ratio, vacuum mixing and small increments on the vibrator. Includes the full pour video.

Cleaning the margins of a stone model under the microscope

Module 3

Cleaning the Margins

Separating stone from soft tissue with a number 11 blade, creating space for ceramic, and refining under the microscope.

A handmade stone model beside its scanned digital version

Module 4

Handmade and Digital

Why the stone model is not replaced by the digital one. It becomes its source.

Digital margin marking on an alveolar model in CAD

Module 5

Digital Conversion

Scanning the cleaned model and rebuilding it as a digital alveolar model with removable dies. Includes the CAD margin video.

A row of 3D printed removable dies and a printed arch

Module 6

Printed Models

Sending the design to the printer as a set of parts, then washing and curing the PMMA model and each die.

A duplication ring with dies beside the silicone mold it leaves

Module 7

Die Duplication

Resin cannot go in a ceramic oven. Silicone duplication and refractory dies that hold their shape at firing temperature. Includes two videos.
